How to use a Document
Camera in a Teaching Space

How do I display the document camera image on
the Projector/LCD screen?
How you turn on the
projector, and then the document camera, depends on the type of
audio/visual equipment installed in the room.
Touch Panel Controller
- Press START button in the
middle of the touch screen.

- Touch the Doc Cam option for
the right and/or left projector(s), as required.Wait 30-60 seconds for the
document camera to display on the projector screen.

- A set of buttons is displayed
for controlling some functions of the document camera. This is an
alternative to using the buttons on the document camera. They do not work
for Canon document cameras.
- Zoom in / out from the image
- Automatically focus the image
- Turn the document camera lamp on / off
- Rotate the image. Keep
pressing this button to scroll through the options of rotating the image
180 degress, flip the image, or mirror image.
(This is a useful option when pointing the camera at the audience or presenter and using as a people camera.) - Restore. Changes back to initial settings prior to buttons being pressed.
AMX Keypad Controller
Note: If there is a Kramer PC/audio switcher box
in the desk, there is no need to use it.

- Press the Projector On button on the AMX keypad. This will start flashing green.
- Press the power button on the document camera.
- Wait 30-60 seconds for the projector image to display on the screen.
- Wait for the On button light on the AMX keypad to stop flashing and remain steady.
- Press the Camera button on the AMX keypad.
- Wait a few seconds for the document camera image to appear on the screen.
Remote Control Unit
- Point the remote at the projector and press the power button.
- Wait 30-60 seconds for the projector image to appear on the screen.
- Rooms
with a Kramer PC/audio switcher box in the desk:

- Press input button #3 to display the document camera.
- Wait for a few seconds for the
camera image to appear on the screen.
- Rooms
with a SMART document camera:

- Press the power button on the SMART document camera
- Press the middle of the 3 input buttons (Camera view) on the document camera.
- Wait for a few seconds for the
camera image to appear on the screen
- Rooms
with a remote control unit, but without a Kramer PC/audio switcher box, or
a SMART board:
- Switch on the power of the document camera to display the image.
- Wait for a few seconds for the camera image to appear on the screen.
- Switch off the power of the
document camera to revert back to the display of the PC.
How do I display an item?
- Place an object under the camera.
- Ensure the power is turned on.
- Adjust the camera neck and lens to the appropriate position.
- Press the AUTO-TUNE (or AUTO
FOCUS) button to optimise the image.

What are the different types of document
camera?
There are 3
different brands of document camera in use at Deakin, but all operate
in a similar way.
